An Observation

Just as when we lived in South Carolina, there sure does seem to be an abundance of people that come into the store with sons who they call *Bubba* It must make for some confusion at school when the teacher calls on Bubba and 3/4 of the boys answer....Yes? Another common thing I see is parents who call their daughter *Sissy* or their son *Brother*. With some of the odd names that parents name their kids these days, maybe these names are a better choice. ;)

  4. You get that with names and nicknames all over the place and all the time.

With actual names it's often that parents have picked a name that's not used much, only to find when their child starts school that several other parents had the same idea as they did within a few months of them doing it. So you go from almost nobody calling their child a certain name to everyone doing it. Next thing you know there are three or more children in a class with the same name!

  5. My mom still calls me Sissy, but thankfully it is not my name. My brother stopped it years ago and my dad barely does it...but mom don't seem able to give it up.
