Buy It Early. :)

If people bought all their groceries early then maybe other people like me who are in retail would not have to work on holidays such as Thanksgiving. I really wish the stores would close down for the day but there is so much greed, they have to make every penny they can. I remember when I was young the stores closed on many of the holidays, not just Christmas. Some of the smaller grocery stores here do close on those days but I think it's because they are family owned and care more about their employees. With that said I have been guilty of running to the store at the last minute on a holiday because I remember something else I wanted. But if the stores were closed, I'm sure I'd be more careful to make sure I had everything on my list and I think others would be too. I only work till 1 pm this Thursday so it's not that bad and I am off today and tomorrow. We don't even have definite plans yet. We were going to have a couple over who we are friendly with but she said she was going to talk to her husband and OK it with him but I have not heard back from them yet. Then today as I was shopping after work for food I ran into Russell's parents who we did not know where back in town. They'd been in AZ for quite some time where they have another house house. So they invited us so that's what we do if we don't hear from the first couple. Either way it will be fun. No matter what we do I'm going to cook a turkey because we love those leftovers! Yummy.

  2. I totally agree! They should close the stores for holidays like they used to. People just planned ahead or did without--but all the employees could spend time with family and enjoy their holidays. We're down to Christmas Day! Ridiculous, isn't it?

I hope you have a wonderful day no matter which way it goes--and a house filled with the smell of turkey! :)

  3. Almost all shops are closed on holidays around here. And the few that are open are literally open for a couple of hours.

  4. Happy Thanksgiving!!

And yes, the greed for the almighty dollar has destroyed the simple charms of simple living.
