This Past Week

Newborns In Need is a national organization where people provide certain items for newborns who are in need or premature babies. There is a local chapter in this city and I've been trying for about a month to get in touch with the woman who runs the one here. I even emailed the national chapter. Well yesterday I finally got a call from the woman here and she said she'd been taking care of her daughter who had surgery. Well anyhow she sent me out some information and I got it today. I'm going to crochet and/or knit baby blankets and maybe some other items. This week when I get paid I'm going to buy some yarn and get started. If you know how to crochet, knit or sew go to www.newbornsinneed.com and check and see if your state has a chapter.

A weird thing happened last night. Russell and I were in bed but not sleeping. All of a sudden we heard a really loud bang on the front door and the storm door closing. Russell hurried up and got some clothes on (since it might not be to wise for him to go outside in the nude!) and nobody was there. He took a flashlight and looked around. He saw a guy outside who said he saw a couple of kids running down the street. Russell took his truck and drove around the block but didn't see anything. This was after midnight and I don't know why someone was banging on the door like that. Crazy! Maybe it was some kids doing some type of a dare thing. Now tonight Russell got called into work. He said it probably won't be an all nighter but I still don't like the idea of being here alone. I'll probably stay up late since I don't have to go to work until 2 pm tomorrow. I doubt I'll be able to sleep anyhow.

The fourth of July was fun! We went over Russell's parents house for a barbecue. His sister that lives here was there with her husband and his other sister is her visiting from AZ along with her two daughters. There was a lot of yummy food and I brought a watermelon, some chips and made a blueberry coffeecake. They made homemade ice cream. I don't care for vanilla much so I did not have any. After that we went to the fireworks. They were at the park with the big pond in it, the one I have pictures of on my blog. All the geese, swans and ducks that live there were scared to death, poor things. I had to work on the 4th from 6:30 in the morning (yuck!) till 3 pm. So I still had plenty of time to do all this other stuff. At least I did not have to work at night and be stuck at work. It worked out pretty good. I was off Sunday and Monday this week which was really neat because Russell had those days off also. So aside from that weird happening last night, it's been a pretty good week.

  1. I am glad you had a happy 4th hon.
That IS scary about the knocking...if it was kids...I bet they won't be back I am sure they lurked around and saw Russell chasing around looking for them!
I live alone but am not scared...though I keep a baseball bat by my bed!
Anyway...where in AZ is the visiting family from?

  2. Most likely it was just some childish prank. We used to do things like that all the time. Our favorite was to remove sprinkler heads on yards that we knew were on a timer. I the morning, the whole street would be flooded. We were bad.
