Maybe I Should Have Listened?

Russell told me not to put AOL on this computer. This is a computer he had at work and he said there was not a lot of disk space on it. He said putting AOL on it would mess it up. Well a couple of weeks ago I put AOL on it. It worked fine for the first week or so. Then it started messing up so I figured it was AOL itself and I'd just take out AOL and put it back in. I put it back in and it automatically put in AOL 9.1 and not 9.0 like I did have in there. So that took up even more disk space. The computer started going slower and slower. I can't read the messages boards I like to read or look anything up on Google. All I can do is get on my blog and read some of the other blogs that I have listed on my blog. He has to reformat this computer and he's not done yet. He tried to put Mozilla back in but it wouldn't go in. So right now I'm trying again to install it. I've heard that AOL can cause a lot of problems but I never believed it. Now I do! It sucks that I can't do anything on this computer except write on my blog. Maybe next time I should listen to the computer expert?

  1. AOL is horrible on a computer, its such a memory hog. When I got this computer a little over a year ago it didn't have AOL on it so I installed it. It sure slowed it down a lot. I quickly uninstalled it and it starting running fast again. Never again will I have a computer with AOL software on it. I have gotten so used to AOL.com on IE that I don't even miss the software. Everything you need is right there on that site and I use AIM to talk to friends and family on IMs.

  2. Yeah, Studly ended up giving me my own computer after he had to reformat "ours" one too many a time because of AOL. Reformatting makes him very cranky!

  3. I've always had trouble with AOL... I've not had much luck with ICQ either (though most people don't have any problems with that one).

And... Yep, you might want to listen to him in future. ;)

Having AOL on your computer is a lot like having a tapeworm in your small intestine.

Oh... the only way to really obliterate al traces of AOL is to reformat your hard drive. It really is that bad.

  7. Wow....I was not aware that so many people had such negative views of AOL. Thanks for the input and I won't even try to sneak AOL back on any of my computers again. The problem is not yet solved and I'm on Russell's laptop right now.
