Spiritual Sunday

My thoughts after reading the book (A New Earth) by Eckhart Tolle.

People live in a constant state of dysfunction. The teachings of Hinduism call this dysfunction *maya* which means the veil of delusion. Buddhism calls it *dukkha* where we live in a state of misery or suffering. Now the Christians call it *original sin*. Original sin does not have the meaning that many of us think it does. Translated from Greek as in which the New Testament was written, it means to miss the mark or to miss the point of human existence.
All you have to do is turn on the news to see this dysfunction.....to see the insanity that this world has become. Daily you hear about murder, rape, abuse of both humans and animals. We are polluting this amazing home of ours called Earth and destroying the fragile Eco system. The results of this dysfunction is fear, greed and the need for more power. We always need more. Nothing is ever enough.

Now in the words of Eckhart Tolle " And yet...and yet...in spite of all the insane deeds perpetrated in the name of religion, the Truth to which they point still shines at their core." (end of quote)
There is hope for humanity. What is the Truth? The Universal Truth is who we are at our very core. It is the person we are when we do not live in EGO. It is that inner voice within that we should listen to instead of letting ourselves be influenced by outside sources that we forget who we really are. The belief system that we have...the system that we see as the absolute truth does not make us spiritual no matter what those beliefs are. There are people who are so limited by their thoughts and think that if you don't share their beliefs that you are wrong, that they possess the only Truth. Over the years many wars have been fought over religion. Who wins in a war such as this? Nobody. If there were more people who would be just willing to listen...to open their hearts and think that maybe....just maybe that there could be some truth in all religions then the world could be a lot better place to live in.

Today there is a new rise in consciousness. It's difficult to see when you have to look at it through a veil of fear, greed and hatred. But it's there. People are beginning to realize that there is more to life than what appears on the surface. You can be one of those people....but only if you are ready. If you're not ready, you may think about this post....Barb has just written a bunch of rubbish and I have no idea what she is talking about. Ten years ago....heck even five years ago, I would have been one of those people. I was one of those lost souls living in the darkness....my life being controlled by my thoughts of greed, wanting more and materialism. Nothing was ever enough. I was always looking for that *something* that would come along and make me happy. I have since learned that happiness comes from within. Another person can't make us happy...nor can things. I can freely admit that I'm not all the way there yet where I don't equate things with success but I'm well on that path and will continue to be a seeker of the Universal Truth. :)
Peace and Blessings

I had a pretty spiritual day. I took a ten mile walk on the NCR trail. It was beautiful even with no greenery yet. It was sunny and not too cold. I saw some very pretty stones.
