It's That Time

Time to fix the roof. It can't wait any longer. We've had a lot of rain and last night before we went to bed it was raining lightly and I put my giant stock pot in the living room under the leak. It was full within about a half an inch of the top this morning. With brown yucky water. Here is a picture of the living room leak.

Here's the previous leak in the family room that even made a hole. This one does not leak any more.
Here are some 2x4's that Russell is going to use to brace up the roof before he hires someone to redo it. I'm glad he's not doing it himself and that's all I will say about that.
My feet hurt. Yesterday I helped Russell do yard work for about 5 or 6 hours. He worked even longer than that. It was not in our yard but for some other jobs he had to do. I used the gas push mower and the weed trimmer. He rode the riding motor so I think I worked harder than him. ;) He is going to get a smaller riding mower that I can handle but I can see myself now crashing into stuff and running over trees. OK anyhow my feet hurt because I wore sandals instead of shoes with some support. I won't do that again.

The worst movie ever made is called Watchmen. We went online last night to rent some movies from Redbox. We always rent them at home and then go pick them up at the machine. Well we each picked one and he picked Watchmen and we thought it did not go through but when I got there to swipe my card, it gave me 3 of that one movie and then the ones Alex and I picked. So I put two of them back in and I have to call Redbox and get them to give me two codes for free movies. They have good customer service. Anyhow We all started watching it and I could see from the beginning it sucked. Alex wandered off into the other room to watch the movie he picked. I fell asleep. Russell watched it all waiting for it to get better but when it was over, he said it was so horrible....why did I get three of them? haha. It is very rare for him to say a movie sucks so I know it was really bad.

Alex and I saw Harry Potter the other day. I guess I just don't get the big hype about any of the Harry Potter movies. It was tolerable but that's it. I've only see one of the other movies and while I didn't hate it, it did nothing for me. Just call me a party pooper. ;) Alex did enjoy it though and that's what matters. The movie I want to see is Orphan which I saw the previews for and it looks really good. Maybe I'll drag Alex to see that one.

Well that's about all that is new in the exciting life of Barb.
Have a good day. :)

  1. I hope you can get that roof fixed soon - it doesn't look too good.

:) I bet you can drive a riding mower just fine. They are easier than cars - since you don't have to stay in a lane or indicate or worry about other lawn mowers (usually).

And gosh how bad does a movie have to be to be nominated the worse ever made?! That must really be a bad movie!

  2. Oh man. Roof problems!
I don't think my family ever has had roof problems.
Maybe when I was little when we first moved into a really old house.
But, I don't think we have. good luck!

  3. Oh I hope you get the roof repaired and don't have to deal with leaks again for a hundred years!

Sandels don't seem like they are good for real life, I guess. :(

I rented Watchmen and saw the whole thing. It was confusing for a long time--not sure it ever totally made sense to me. Dagan warned me to be prepared to see a lot of blue penis and a pretty graphic sex scene--so maybe it was good that Alex watched something else. It did nothing for me--kind of dumb movie.

I read the first 3 or 4 Potter books and saw the movies. I've liked them, but have pondered on how such dark, scary movies could be so tremendously popular? I do like the good vs evil in books and movies, tho--so maybe that is the draw? Harry better win in the end is all I have to say. :)

  4. Most of the hype about the Potter movies is that they're based on the books. The movies are quite good, but not as good as the books. Most of their popularity is only because of the books, I think. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy them, but I do see why some people - like yourself - don't.

Good luck getting the roof fixed.
