Not much going on here except that I'm off today and tomorrow. After working 6 days I'm glad to get a break. We've watched some pretty good movies lately (and one crappy one) so I'll do a couple of reviews.

Knowing: I've been waiting to see this and it just came out on DVD today at Redbox. Nicholas Cage is in it and we both thought it was an excellent movie. It's starts out about a little girl who puts a letter into a time capsule along with the rest of a class for the dedication of her new school. It's to be opened 50 years later. A little boy is given the letter to open and his Dad (Cage) discovers that it's a bunch of numbers in code that have foreseen every tragedy that has happened in the last 50 years. I won't say any more than that about it but it really was good.

Doubt: This has Meryl Streep in it and she plays a character who appears to be a really mean nun in a Catholic School. She finds out about a priest molesting a little boy and goes after him with everything she has even when nobody believes her, even the boys mother. I don't know if she won awards for this role but she should have. She was amazing in this role. Really good movie.

The Day The Earth Stood Still: Even Better than Knowing. Keaneu Reeves plays an Alien who comes to help the Earth. Nobody wants to listen to him and the people of this planet of course choose violence over peace. Pretty good graphics and good story. I don't want to say much more to give away the ending.

Dark Secrets: From the look on the box, it looked like it would be a really good horror movie. But it was really odd, it seemed to be made in Britain since everyone had British accents. The graphics were laughable and unconvincing. It's about a little girl who's kidnapped and another little girl ghosts helps out so they can find here. Pretty sucky movie and not at all what we expected.
