This Past Week

Well, lets see what's new.
We went to see Transformers (Alex and I) and while it is not my type of movie it was not too bad and had a decent story line and had really good graphics. He really seemed to like it. We are going today or tomorrow to see Harry Potter so I'll let y'all know how that goes.

A couple of things not to do:
When you cook bacon in the oven and take out the pan to turn it over, be careful not to spill the grease in the oven. When you don't notice it spilled and all of sudden the whole room is filled with smoke, it will make the whole house alarm go off and everyone outside can hear it. Don't ask me how I know.

Don't leave a bucket under your sink that you are using for compost stuff and then forget about it for about a month. It may not smell because there's a cover on it, but the house will be full of fruit flies and it will take you about a week to figure out where they are coming from. Don't ask me how I know.

Don't wash the windows in the rain. I was driving by the new CVS today and actually saw a man doing this. Kinda weird huh?

The weather has cooled off by about 20 degrees and it's been in the 80's and today it's raining. We really need the rain so that's a good thing. What is not a good thing is that it's leaking in the living room again right over Russell's chair so I moved it and put a bucket there. He's working so there's nothing I can do about it. We thought the leak was fixed because last time it rained, it did not leak at all.

Garden stuff: for some reason the zucchini is not getting pollinated. I don't know why. There have been plenty of flowers but no vegetables. The yellow ones did grow. Somebody cut down my cucumber plants that were climbing up the fence. It was a yard worker who was cutting grass so they can sell the house next door. Nobody has lived in since we have been here and now they are going to sell it. The guy was using a weed eater and went to close to the fence and cut my plants off at the root. Lesson learned: don't let any plants grow up a fence between property lines.

I rented a couple movies from redbox. If you want to see the nastiest, grossest movie ever rent Born. It has too much nudity and they do stuff like rip out body parts and cut off heads. It's about a women who is pregnant with a devil child. Despite all the ridiculousness of it, I could not stop watching it. And it was totally disgusting. I rented Haunting in Connecticut. It's based on a true story and I already have a copy of the documentary version of the way it really happened. But the only thing that was true in the movie version was that they moved into a house that was once a funeral home and the son had cancer. That's about it. The rest was nothing like the true story. It's funny how they can take a true story and add in a bunch of fake stuff just to make it more interesting.

I've been working on my knitted blankets whenever I watch tv. I've got one done and the other about a third of the way done. Those are the only crafty types things that I've been doing.

I've been having fun on Facebook and even found a girl that I used to know from highschool. If anyone has an account and I know you......let me know and I will add you on.

Well, that's all folks. Hope the remainder of your day is a good one. :)
Blessings.

  1. Greetings from Minnesota land!
I can say I have done that with the *coughs* fruit flies...and yep takes a good week to get rid of them, sometimes longer, a lesson you will not forget for sure!

As for your zuc's I had that isse a few years ago and someone told me if i had too many blossoms on em to cut a few off to give the others a better chance to grow,...I did this and it worked but perhaps worth a try?

Hope you have a good week!

  2. Sounds like an interestingg and educational week. ;)

If you see my name on facebook, don't bother adding me. I created an account to try it out ages ago and didn't think much of it, but I can't close my account because you need to do a word verification thingy to do so. So, please don't waste your time by adding me if you spot my name on it.

  3. When I tried to comment on a friends post it had me named as that girl, then when I went back to my blog to see what happened her name was across my tool bar on the home page of my blog. We have norton. Maybe it was just a freak one time thing.

  5. Love this post--filling us in on this and that. Sorry about the cucumbers, the roof, smokey bacon grease, and the compost flies. I can empathize. Don't ask me how I know. ;)

Sounds like I'll pass on both movies. Thanks for the heads up.

I'm on Facebook, but I haven't been very chatty on it. Rita McGregor if you want to stop by. :):)

  6. Rebag: The flowers grow and then fall off, then other flowers grow but none turn into veggies. I really don't think they are getting pollinated.

  8. Dana: That really is odd and I don't know what to make of it. I've never had anything like that happen.

  9. Intense Guy: We saw the Harry Potter movie yesterday and it was OK. I'm not much of a Harry Potter fan and have not read any of the books but I did like seeing my son enjoy it.
