This Past Week

Last week I got together with a friend (Coleen) who I'd not seen since high school. How cool is that? It was so great to see her and catch up on our lives. She lives in Gloucester where we both grew up and we were in ROTC together.  I'm living in Lynn which is only about 30 minutes away. We had coffee at her house and talked for hours. We are going to get together again for sure.

Peter was off work that past couple of days and we went out to eat three times! We went to IHOP for breakfast and out to dinner twice...at Jimmy's Steer House and Essex Clams.  Well, of course, I gained two pounds. I think the fried clams were worth it. Anyhow this just tells me I need to get back into some type of an exercise routine. In New Mexico I was walking almost every day, usually more than an hour. I've tried walking here but don't like it too much. I need to do something because he loves to go out to eat. I think I'll be doing exercise dvd's but it will probably be difficult because I don't have a dvd player and will have to play them on the laptop. I will have to see how that works out.

Yesterday we drove to Gloucester and I got the grand tour. I did go there before when I went to visit my friend  but it was totally foggy and I couldn't see anything. Peter showed me the house and the neighborhood that he grew up in and we also drove to East Gloucester where I grew up. There is a new shopping area in the city and some new condos but actually, not a lot has changed. We drove around the back shore to see the ocean. It was nice to see the waves crashing against the shore. We saw a couple of beaches too. It was cloudy and the weather was not that great so I want to go again on a nicer day and take some pictures.

As for the Alphabet Blogger thing, I have found out I'm not disciplined enough to do it. I think when I HAVE to do something, then I'm not too interested in doing it. Anyhow, that's it for now.

Hope y'all have a good weekend!

  1. Thanks for sharing your story. I can hear the happiness and renewed excitement for life in your words. Isn't is great living so close to water!?!

    Enjoy!

  2. You sound very happy; I'm really glad! :)

Is it too far to walk to the occean? I was just thinking, if it was close enough, maybe a walk there and back would give you some enthusiasm to start walking daily again? Just a thought!

  3. Well! We have had the same problem in our house, we have felt too tired to cook and have eaten take away several days in a row!! And we feel it, too. Today and last night we had healthy foods, steamed broccoli, gorgeous salads with kidney beans, capsicum, etc, to really cleanse out the body. Its helped! Maybe sensitive people have found things a bit taxing lately and are taking the easy way out in the kitchen!
