Busy, Busy

I've been busy working. Not working at my dream job but working at Walmart. I do have to say that it's a lot better than the Walmart in York, SC. I'm working on the front end this time where before I worked in the Garden center and for the last 9 months I was there I worked the night shift in the toy department. It's real fast paced working on a register at the front. I had to learn a few new things that they do different in this state. For one thing they do WIC differently and when they card someone for cigarettes or alcohol you have to card them if they appear to be under 40! I guess they just want to play it safe but some people don't like it. It was kinda funny cause I carded a guy who was definitely under 40 and he went to show me his ID and there was a badge in there cause he was a cop. He seemed offended that I even carded him but I'm just doing what I'm supposed to do.
I've decided to not let myself get sucked into any of the gossip at Walmart. I hate it, I really do. I don't like listening to people talk about other people in the stores, or the customers. I purposely have been going home at lunch time so I don't have to go sit in the break room. It works for me. :)

OK, I just now got back from doing some errands. I've been looking for someplace to workout. There are 4 or 5 small gyms around here but none of them were right for me for one reason or another. Most people think when they work out they have to go to a gym and they don't even think about checking out the local YMCA. Since I've had very good experiences with Y's before when my son went to after school care at the one in SC I figured I'd go there and see what they had to offer for fitness equipment. I was very surprised. What they had was way better than any gyms around here. They had brand new equipment. They had big screen TVs in the cardio room, lots of weight lifting machines, a free weight room, an aerobic room where they also have Yoga classes (all classes are included), a pool somewhere nearby that they have the use of and they also have water aerobics there. (I don't know where this pool is yet). Every thing was very clean and it was a great atmosphere. They have pretty good hours and are open at 5 in the morning on weekdays. You get so much for only $30 a month. I'm going to join as soon as I get my first paycheck and I can't wait to go there. And another thing....this being the YMCA I know it's not going to close down like some gyms do. You can cancel your membership at anytime and there's no cancellation fee.

  2. Glad you got a job even if it's not your dream job! And tough cookie for the cop. he would have arrested you if he thought your were selling to underaged kids! Here in TN, the law is you have to card everyone, and I mean every single customer, who buys liquor. i don't care if you're 90, better have an ID!

Been thinking about you and how you are settling in. Glad to know it's going okay!
