Religious Tolerance

This is sort of a continuation of my Evolving post from yesterday.
One thing that is very important to me is that within my beliefs is that I have respect for the beliefs of others. I also expect the same in return. As I posted before I truly believe that all paths that are led by good intentions lead to the same place. All Gods are One God. It's OK if we call our God by different names. Do you think God cares? What I do find it difficult to tolerate is people think that their way is the only way. Let's look at Christianity for instance. Some people think that Jesus is the only way. You have to be saved. Saved from what? Ourselves? To me Jesus was a great teacher, healer and prophet. But I do not think that he is the only way to the Other Side or Heaven as some people call it. To me, the Other side is our home from where we all came from. It's where we came into existence and it's where we will go again.
To me....saying that there is only one right religion...is like saying that we are the only creatures that exist in the entire vast universe. How unlikely is that? Look up into the sky at night as can you honestly say there's nothing else out there? I didn't think so. ;)
Well that's it for today. Russell and I have things to do. Peace to y'all.
Blessings.

  1. I agree with you, it's the same with politics. Just because two people dont vote the same doesn't mean they cant get along and be great friends.

I am also a Wiccan, but I think Jesus is *a* manifestation of Deity. But what seperates me from Christianity is that I don't think Jesus is the *only* manifestation of Deity. I agree with you that Jesus was a man of peace, a great teacher, a healer, and very wise. His standard of morality and conduct is a good model for all mankind.

It's too bad that the Religious Reich seems to forget that Jesus only had one command: Love God / Love Each Other. He didn't say to hate gays, liberals, foreigners, or any other minority. He was never rich in cash, but very rich in spirit.
