When My Mind Wanders....

I was ready to write on my blog. Then I got to thinking about how Russell was saying he wondered how much it was to get water delivered to our house. So I looked up Culligan on google. Then from there I started thinking about arsenic in water. I read something on the internet that said this city had high levels of arsenic in the water. But I never found anything to prove that was true. Ok so then I went to set the coffee pot for the morning and decided to go take a bath. Then I got out and remembered I never wrote my blog. That's what it's like when you have ADD. I'll be sitting on the sofa with Russell and I'll be tapping my leg or foot and won't even notice I'm doing it until he says something. I'll do the same thing in bed. Even when I'm watching tv....I can't just sit there. I have to crochet or something. I can even read and watch tv at the same time. I have a hard time finishing things. I'll start craft projects and they may sit there for years but I eventually do finish them. I've been working on a crochet blanket for almost a year. It's not that I'm slow but it just does not hold my attention for very long. I'm always thinking about what I'm going to do next, not what I'm doing in the present moment. That means I'm always living in the future when I should be living in the moment. Ok enough about that.

Today I went with Russell when he went to fix a window in one of the rental houses. He ran into some problems with not having the right size glass so he still has another one to do tomorrow. We got Chinese food. Oh yeah and he had to buy a couple of new toys. He bought a generator. A lot of the houses we work on or clean have no power and that makes it so hard so now we can have lights and run the vacuum. This generator will come in handy if the we get an ice storm like often happens here and the power goes out. He also got a new router. (one of those things that do edges on wood) It will come in handy for jobs he does as well as making the new cabinet doors for the kitchen. The other idea did not turn out so well. It was nothing but a huge mess and would have cost way more to strip them all than to buy some plywood and make new ones. They are all cut out and now he just has to figure out how to use the router. So now the house is a mess again. I have cabinet doors all over the kitchen and junk all over the place.

It was 70 degrees but it felt way warmer. It felt like summer in February. We get lots of days like this. The grass is starting to turn green in some areas. Some people have brown grass one day and green grass the next. They get that fake looking stuff sprayed on it and it looks silly surrounded by brown grass on either side of it. It's sprayed very unevenly so it looks blotchy. It kinda looks like the color of that fake easter grass that you put in baskets. Are the people that actually pay for this service maybe color blind?

I should be going to bed but I'm not tired. I even took some melotonin about an hour ago and it didn't do anything. Maybe I need to take two. I tried sleeping pills once and they had a weird effect and made me hyper. Another time, they knocked me out. I never know what the reaction will be.
Well I'm going to force myself to go to bed now. I hope y'all have a good day tomorrow. :)
Blessings to y'all.

  1. *chuckle* Re the blanket that's been in the works for a year. It took me 4 years to finish Tay's afghan for her bed. (A coverlet that's slightly smaller than her twin-sized bed.) I've got another one that's about 1/3 the way done (it's a bunch of medalions), but I do one medalion at a time about every 4 months. *grin* FWIW, I've got 5 or 6 half-completed projects right now, and I'm trying to bust through a couple more before I pick up a new one, even though that new one is planned for, and purchased for, and I already know who I'm making it for. But must complete some PIPs first (projects in progress).

And yet, if you get it done, you get it done. Just plan for it. If you plan 2 rows a week (or 3, or 4, or whatever you're comfortable with), you'll be done in no time! But, don't PLAN to try to get more done in a week than a small number of rows (or a couple of squares, or medalions, if you're making an afghan out of them). Sooner or later, you may find yourself really pushing through 8, 10 rows, and you'll be suprised how much you've accomplished how quickly. And then you'll get to those last 4 or 5 rows and you won't WANT to put the blanket down till you've got that last bit finished and the edging on. Best of luck, and don't sweat it!

Glad to hear you got a generator to help with cleaning/fixing up the houses y'all are taking care of. Hope you get reimbursed well for the output of money.

  2. I know a few people with that problem (starting something, getting side tracked and then not finishing it). It's not a big deal... As long as you get to stuff in the end it doesn't really matter, does it?

Anyway... Good luck with getting some sleep!

  4. Sounds like you have motivation to start stuff and thats more than I can say for myself:( I have never heard of spray grass. I need to plant seeds on half of my yard, it is just a mud pit:(

  5. I also frequently start projects and abandon them for something else. Eventually, I do finish, but like you, I appreciate diversity!
