Sunday Ramblings

I got all the mess around here cleaned up. I washed dishes, washed the floor, vacuumed, put away laundry and picked up. We only got one set of the cabinet doors hung up because we ran into problems. This house was moved at one time and so all of the walls are not even and so we found out that the cabinet was not either. Russell pretty much got it fixed. And it was taking longer than I expected to paint the doors as well because the first coat of paint just sunk into the wood. Anyhow I can see that they are going to look way better than the old doors.

I was supposed to go next door and clean a house for the landlord. I have the key but I could not get in. The key would not work the deadbolt for some reason. Russell is working and the landlord was at church so I could not get it done. I have to work later so now I'll have to do it tomorrow.

More about the bad economy. I think we are lucky that when we came here we found this house to rent even though it looked like crap when we first got it. Russell does a lot of work for the landlord and that covers the rent instead of him getting paid for it. He will be doing much more once the grass starts to grow as he will once again cut the grass at all the properties. If we did have to pay rent we'd be a lot worse off than we are now. So...I'm glad that in these tough economic times we are in a pretty good situation. We are able to survive despite the fact that the child support he pays for 2 kids (even though his ex only has 1 child and has for over a year) takes up much of his paycheck since he's now making way less than when the support was filed. Well that will be over with in just over a year and his ex will actually have to get a job and work like the rest of us.

I think that obstacles that seem to hinder us only make us stronger. In finding ways to overcome them we learn and grow and hopefully don't repeat past mistakes.

Peace to y'all.

  4. Hope you can get in to do the work on the other house today.

And... Well done on all the work you've put in to the house. It's just a shame so few others care about the state of their homes.

  5. Hell, I'd claim a few kids as my own if I could collect child-support. Equal opportunity, right?
