I'm Gonna Fix The Toilet

That's what Russell said to me after he came home this morning. I didn't think much of it until he said come here and look at this. The floor was rotted right through to underneath the house. As you can see it was quite a mess.
Here is the pink toilet sitting in the kitchen. I asked Russell what I was going to do it I had to use the bathroom. He said he would stick this toilet outside in the shed. (remember, it's the spider shed) I said what if I have to poo? Haha.....he didn't have an answer to that. Yipppeeee I'd be the only one in the neighborhood with my own personal outhouse and better yet, it would be one with pets. ;)
Well after deciding to get a new toilet which he got at the local hardware store instead of the True Value chain store, and having to buy plywood to fix the floor the new toilet is in. The floor is not done but at least I don't have to go to the outhouse.
I worked in the yard most of the day. I mowed, raked up tons of leaves all around the edges of the fence, pulled more weeds, worked on my compost pile some more and pulled up some weeds at the front of the house as well. The yard is starting to look really good. Here are a couple of pictures.
This is the backyard and those bushes were totally overgrown and were a tangle mess of weeds. I'm just trying to get it all cleaned up before I even think about doing any landscaping. We probably won't any of that until next summer.
Here is my compost area. It's going to be partway into the ground. There's my huge pile of leaves and then the dirt I dug out. As I put vegetable peels and stuff in it they will be covered with the leaves and dirt. Well that's it for today. Hope y'all are having a wonderful week!

  3. I'm so glad you don't have to go out to the spider shed to do your business--hehe! Yuck!

You guys should be proud--looks like you have done a lot of yard work--and a lot of bathroom work lately. :)

  4. sits here laughing about the outhouse! Oh man it just never ends does it, trust me it is that way here too! your yard is looking great! Composting is fun but be careful with things like coffe grounds and what plants you put them on! I learned that the hard way .... hope you have a great day!

  6. Wow! The yard is looking great! I hope you are going to use that fabulous toilet/planter as some yard art, maybe planted with complementary colors of flowers! I mean, it is pink and all.

Doug and I got the toilet replaced last year and it had the positive side effect of lowering our water bill too. Yay!
