Peaceful Sunday

I sat on the front porch early this morning just after Russell left for work. I read the Sunday paper and drank a cup of coffee and listened to all the birds singing and it was nice and peaceful. I watched two big black birds having a disagreement about something or another. I heard the morning doves calling to each other. Then I went out in the backyard and checked out the garden and took a few pictures. The grass needs to be cut again so I had Russell leave the push mower here so I can do it today but there's one problem. It's gas and I don't have the strength to pull the rope and get it started so I'll have to wait till Russell comes home. He has a riding mower but I like to cut the grass here myself. It's some good exercise and it just feels good to do it.

I've been pretty tired lately from working all these early morning hours. The other day I came home after working nine hours and I slept for about 4 hours and then we went and cleaned an apartment and did not get home till around 10:00 pm.

Last night I hung out about 4 loads of laundry. One more and I should be done with all that. It's really nice out so it dries quickly. It a good saver of energy and good for the environment as well not to be using all that gas.

Here are a few pictures I took this morning.

Small crookneck squash. This one is about 2 inches and there are more starting to grow as well.

Side view of the garden. I know I planted too much in that small of a space but everything seems to be doing well.
Zucchini on the left, watermelon on the right.
Tomato plants in the back, eggplant and peppers in the front.
Another view from the front of the garden.
That's it for the garden pictures. I decided to get out my heavy duty kitchen aid mixer and attach the meat grinder to it.
Then I bought these roasts for $1.67 a pound on sale at the small grocery store here.
Here it is ground up. This is about half of it in this picture. I divided it up into one pound packages and some burgers and put it in the freezer. When I do this again I'm going to have to put more fat into the meat for the burgers at least because this came out very lean and burgers are not as juicy as they should be without the extra fat. I saved money by doing this because the ground beef I normally buy is almost $3 a pound.
I also have a sausage stuffer that goes on my meat grinder attachment and if I can figure out where to by the casings, I may try those as well. In addition to that I have a pasta maker that goes with it but I've never tried it. I've had this mixer for probably 6 years and have mostly used it to make bread dough or pizza dough. So I need to make more used of it. It's a very handy thing to have.

I cooked in my Wok the other night. Russell put it in the dishwasher and I didn't notice him doing that. It came out totally rusted. He was unloading the dishwasher and said.....I guess this Wok can't go in the dishwasher. That's OK, he was just trying to help and I got all the rust off and oiled it. :)

I got some really cool yarn the other day. I'm going to knit some blankets to go over the backs of our recliners in the living room. I already have blankets I made on them but they don't match the living room. I got some Vanna White brand yarn which seems like it's a really good quality and it matches my sofa. I'm going to use large needles so they should work up quickly.

Well that's about it for now.
I love life here in Oklahoma. :)
P.S. The pink toilet is still in my family room.
One more thing: Russell dropped his cell phone in the muddy water at his job the other day. It was ruined. Good thing our phones are insured!

Blessings to y'all.
