Maybe an answer?

I've been having horrible headaches lately. They started about 3 or 4 in the morning and I could not figure out what they were from. I thought they were due to my bad back and maybe it was the mattress on my bed which is pretty new. It was getting so bad that some days I've gone to work with a headache all day and this was happening 3 or 4 times a week. Then at work in the break room I saw an article about migraines. I tore the page out and read it at home. When I was reading it something jumped out at me. Migraines can be caused by aged foods such as wine and cheese. I have been eating a lot of that laughing cow cheese in the past couple of weeks because it's low-cal and tastes really good. I quit eating it. I have not had a headache in three days now. That's pretty good since I was getting one every day. It will be really hard to give up cheese and that's the only dairy food that I actually like. I will only eat salad with feta cheese on it and I got a new container of it in the fridge calling my name. I love that stuff. I'm afraid to eat it because it's aged for a long time and I don't want another one of those headaches. I know they make soy cheese which I used to buy in NM but I'm thinking that would not be a big seller around here. Also I have no idea if soy cheese is aged. Aged foods have tyramine in them and that's what can cause migraines in some people. I guess I'll have to do some more research. At least for now I am headache free. I felt like crap for a couple of weeks and now I'm starting to finally feel better. I'm starting back to exercising today since it's a lot cooler now. :)
Peace to y'all.

  1. Thats great that you descover the cause the may be. Remember, pain is just energy imbalance or blocks. The cheese may of caused the imbalance.

  2. Barb: I have learned so much about food in the last 2 1/2 years since I was so so sick. Hubby is allergic to peanuts and at age 65 we've just now figured it out. I have trouble with corn products--but not wheat which is what most people are sensitive to. Have you ever read about the diets for certain blood types? That's interesting, too. I'm putting more and more faith into that old saying-you are what you eat!

What do you think about this dreary, overcast weather we're having! I'm ready to see some sunshine! D

  3. Hope the headaches stay away! *Hugs*

One point though... If you avoid everything that may cause some problem or other, you're never going to eat or drink again! There are always articles about different foods and drinks causing this problem, that problem, etc... Most of them contradict things that were written in others, and many of them are a load of rubbish. OK, so not all of them are rubbish, and there may be something in this one if you're headache is gone. But don't believe all of those articles.

  4. I am so sorry that you are having this problem! Stud Muffin can eat cheese, but not milk and especially not fermented things like soy sauce, etc. Oh, and chocolate! Frankly, life would not be worth eating without chocolate!

  5. Amazing how complicated the human body is - and how affected it is by the food we eat. I'm glad you are feeling better - headaches really suck the life out a person.

  6. Damn, that just sucks...I would hate to have to give up cheese also. But it is good to hear the headaches have subsided. I hope it stays that way...oh, did you have a high/low pressure system during that time? A very good friend of mine in Kansas gets them with the bad weather...

  7. That is fascinating! Aged foods and headaches--never heard of that. And the Universe left an article out for you in the breakroom--hehe! Serendipity! Glad you are feeling better. Eating some of the cheese will test your theory for sure. :):)

  8. I know that i get headaches when I drink wine - but I didn't know if that was because I drink too much - once the bottle's open, you know...

Wow, life without cheese would be rough!
