There is supposed to be a reason for everything....

but I can't for the life of me figure out this one.

My youngest daughter Kayla is engaged to Jeremy. I'll make this short as possible......Jeremy's Mom gave birth to a surrogate child for a childless couple. She remained close the couple and kept in touch. The woman that she had the baby for was supposed to never be able to have kids of her own but through a miracle she gave birth to one of her own. So she had two, a 5 year old and a 1 year old. The couple separated and were in the process of a divorce. The Dad in a fit if rage because the wife would not go over to see him, killed both of the kids. He then tried to kill himself by shooting himself in the head but only managed to blow off his tongue, upper lip and nose. The doctors in the hospital he's at are so angered that they refuse to treat him even though they could lose their jobs. One doctor who is contracted to treat him must do so. I can't even begin to comprehend how someone can drug their kids and then shoot them. I don't think anybody realized how far he would go.   How do you make any sense of something like this? I wonder if every time this man looks in a mirror at his disfigured face, if he will see the faces of his children? I wonder if he even regrets what he did.  Maybe this is his punishment? Sometimes life makes no sense.

  1. We humans can do terrible things in fits of rage/passion and lose our senses and the normal inhibitions that make us (borderline) "civilized". Our capacity to create is equaled by our ability to destroy.

This man will be self-tortured for the rest of his life - I've no doubt of that... and after the justice system gets through with him, he'll never be the same person that adopted the first child.

I hope that your daughter can make enough sense of this apparent total senselessness of these deaths and human destruction - and help her mom-in-law to be through what must be a horrible time.

  2. There are so many things in life that seem totally senseless and tragic. This man, if he lives, will have a huge reminder of his actions looking back at him in the mirror every day. How he choses to deal with that is also on his soul.

Myself, since I have had either flashes of imagination (not always pleasant) that surpass my normal capacities or flashes of past life memories--I guess I figure that what goes around comes around--literally. Debts are paid. Eventually. I guess I have to have faith that there is a balance--beyond my own meager understanding. And I do believe that.

And even if there were no such thing as reincarnation--other religions believe in an accounting, also. I do believe that there is an accountability in the end, regardless of whether people appear to get off scott free here on earth. One way or the other--they will be held accountable.

  4. For the life of me, I have never understood this kind of behavior! I f someone doesn't want to be with me, fine. Let them go. I will be mad, sad, upset,, whatever. But these reports of people (men and women both) who kill the ex- so nobody else can have them just boggles my mind. And don't even start me up about people who kill the children as some sort of retaliation!!

I am so sorry for hose women and children!
