Recession And The Media
Do you think we are in a Recession? Honestly I don't, not yet anyhow. Gas prices are way down, and as someone who works in a store, I see food prices going down as well as other products. There are jobs here to be found. I see hiring signs everywhere. They may not be high paying jobs but the cost of living is very low here so they are jobs that you can survive on.

I think the media plays on our fears and makes things worse. A few months ago...they had it on the news that the price of oil was rising. Well...the gas stations here took their word for it and raised their prices (even though most likely they had not had a new shipment of gas that was of a higher price). Look at the havoc the media created during the Y2K. They made the whole thing into something it never should have been. The media is sooo good at feeding people's fears.

So the year 2012 is going to be upon us before we know it. I wonder what the media will do in this instance? Most of you probably know that the Mayan calender ends in that year and the doomsday sayers say that the world is going to end. There are always those crackpots that come up every few years saying it's about to end. The next few years should be quite interesting huh?

A Year Gone By
Well another year is almost gone and it seems to have passed so fast. I am so ready to put this year behind me. The first part of this year was very difficult for me and not something that I'd ever want to go through again. Sometimes it feels like a bad dream. I try very hard not to live in the past but still once in awhile, those negative thoughts take hold of me and I just have to tell myself that it's long over and I need to live in the moment....not the past, not for the future. Just live NOW. Living in the past is like being in the middle of the ocean with a rock tied around my waist pulling me down into the darkness. In order to live for NOW one has to free themselves of the burdens and put it all behind them. Live in the Light. :) Does this even make any sense? It does to me but it may not to anyone else.

The Past Couple Of Days
I did get my water for those who asked. I also bought food to cook for Thanksgiving. I don't even know what we are doing yet but I wanted to have food to cook just in case. I actually prefer to cook myself because I'm kinda picky and I liked things cooked a certain way....such as turkey and the dressing. Did you know there are actually people that prefer stove top stuffing to homemade? Uggghhhh. What has this world come to? ;)
I was going to make zucchini bread this morning but I opted to make blueberry pancakes instead. It was a lot easier and I can make a batch of homemade with the recipe memorized in my head in just a matter of minutes....in about the same time it would take to make a batch from a package. I think they taste so much better. Last night I found out I can make paninis on my George Foreman Grill and they came out pretty good. I made some that had ham, cheese and tomatoes in the and I thought they were good, Russell said he would have preferred a different type of cheese instead of cheddar. Well honey when we were at the store you picked that cheese did you not?
Russell has been working on an older vehicle he has ( GMC Jimmy) painting it and fixing it up so he can sell it. He already has a car and does not really need 3 vehicles or the extra insurance he has to pay for it.

Where Have I Lived?
Someone awhile back was confused to where I actually live because I have mentioned living in various states. I'm in Oklahoma and I live a bit southwest of Oklahoma City. I grew up in Massachusetts and lived there for over 30 years. Then along with my kids Dad we moved to New Mexico after going there on a vacation and really liking the Southwest. I lived there from January1993 until August of 2004. In January of 2004 I met Russell in a chat room on the Internet and moved to South Carolina in August of 2004. In January of 2008 I went back to NM for about 7 weeks when Russell and I thought we were not going to be together anymore. I returned to SC for what was supposed to be a few days and we were delayed and ended up being there for almost a month and finally we made it out of there and moved to Oklahoma where I hope we both end up staying forever. Is there such a thing as forever?

  1. I like stove top:) The dems like to keep people scared, then people will want to be dependant on them. Thats what Justin tells me:)) I totaly understand about letting go of the pastand living in the moment. I recently released my past and I feel free. I asked my life coach yesterday where she thought all my energy was coming from, she said from letting stuff go:)))

  2. I often wonder if the media isn't a huge part of the problems with our economy.

I have had a pretty uneventful year, other than in January when I lost a cousin who was just 27 years old and was in good health so we were all mystified and could not accept his death very easily. Other than that we moved to Mississippi in January and have just been getting used to life here while we try to find a job closer to our family in Georgia.

I actually have preferred stove top at times, but that is because my mom always put giblets in her stuffing and I thought that is the way all stuffing is made and I don't like it. I know make the following instead of the normal stuffing with bread. This has become a favorite for my husband and I, even though we don't really watch our carbs per se we prefer this to the traditional stuffing.

    Recipe Summary
    Difficulty: Easy
    Prep Time: 15 minutes
    Cook Time: 35 minutes
    Yield: 8 servings

Stuffing is commonly made with bread or croutons, which makes it off limits to
low-carbers. But it doesn't have to be made that way. There's nothing wrong
and everything right with substituting chopped vegetables to make up the
missing bulk. So don't get stuffed. Try this recipe instead of all that bread!

3/4 pound turkey sausage (you may use pork breakfast sausage)
    1/4 cup finely chopped celery
    1/4 cup chopped red onion
    2 eggs
    2 cups coarsely chopped cauliflower
    1/2 cup diced yellow squash
    1/2 cup grated Parmesan
    1 tablespoon chopped parsley leaves
3 tablespoons chopped fresh sage leaves
3 tablespoons chopped fresh thyme leaves
    1 tablespoon minced garlic
    1/8 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
Equipment: 8 by 8-inch square baking dish

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Remove sausage from casing and crumble it into a pan over medium heat.
Add the celery and onion and cook, stirring, until browned. Drain fat if
    necessary.

Beat the eggs in a bowl. Using a spoon, mix in the sausage mixture and all the
remaining ingredients. Pour the stuffing into the baking dish and bake until hot
and browned, about 30 minutes. Serve immediately.

Well... unfortunately, I think the economy is going to get very bad, very fast. I have the notion that bush had figured that things were going to blow up in the next president's face. But like everything else in the Bush presidency, he miscalculated.

I am glad that food and fuel prices are starting to come down. That has a shot at making the looming recession shorter. The thing that made the Carter recession so bad was that wages shrunk and prices went up at the same time. We've had that under Bush for the past three years too, but hopefully inflation will get back in check with somebody sane at the helm.

  7. I think you might be right about what the media does.

I do prefer home made stuffing... We just tend to have it from a package because mostly when we have stuffing my Mam is here and she asks for the packaged stuff, so we get it for her.

There is such thing as forever... I hope you get to spend it with Russel. :)

I know what you mean about the past year though... I've had a rotten year!
